This hidden treasure was once part of Zakynthos until 1633 when there was an earthquake which separated this small area from the mainland and became autonomous.
It is connected to the mainland by a short wooden bridge which has been said to make it look like the Caribbean.
The trees on the island, the bridge and small church form a very idyllic scenery. The Island is named after the small church that has been there for 16 centuries.
There is a beautiful beach with crystal clear waters that are perfect for Snorkelling and not to be missed. It is also one of the best in Europe for swimming with Sea Turtles.
